Ms. Amanda Tyler is the Executive Director of the Baptist Joint Committee (BJC) in Washington D.C., she is the first woman to hold the position. She also serves as the co-host of BJC’s “Respecting Religion” podcast series. In 2017, she submitted written testimony to Congress objecting to a proposal repeal of the Johnson Amendment, a law that protects houses of worship and other religious nonprofit organizations from political pressures.
In 2018 she testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on challenges to religious freedom. Her op-ed pieces have been published in The Washington Post, The Hill and Religious News Service. She has received numerous awards, including being named one of the top 50 nonprofit leaders in the country in 2018 by The NonProfit Times. MMBB service began in 2025. She currently serves on the Benefits Committee and the Development Committee.
