During May, we all look forward to the unofficial start of summer on Memorial Day, and every other year in May, the American Baptist Churches USA community prepares for the Biennial Mission Summit. Similarly, some of us may plan vacations and attendance at summer conferences; however, financial planning is not just a summer activity.
With all that in mind, this issue of Tomorrow features part two in our series on financial planning for different ages and stages in life, “What You Need to Know to Manage Your Finances in Your 40s.” We also share what we have planned for MMBB events and exhibits at the 2023 ABCUSA Biennial Mission Summit in our article, “MMBB Offers Exciting Lineup at Biennial Mission Summit.”
Given the state of the economy, our article, “Building a Vacation on a Budget,” provides suggestions for keeping inflation from dampening your summer holiday plans. Technological enhancements have changed how we work, play and pray. “In Faith-Based Apps: Your Faith in the Palm of Your Hand,” we shed light on mobile apps that can help with personal devotions, at home or on the go. Finally, many of us have seen news headlines about cryptocurrencies. In our “Financial Fact Cryptocurrencies and NFTs: What Are They and Are They Here to Stay?”, we discuss the basics of this new type of currency.
Last but not least, commemorations of Jesus’ Ascension and Pentecost occur this month. These days on the Christian calendar bring to mind these words: "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.” - 2 Peter 3:18 (KJV)
Many aspects of life are out of our control, yet we can influence them. For instance, we cannot force spiritual growth, but we can nurture and develop it with the Lord’s guidance. This text reminds us to reach out to God and listen for direction since God promises to give us grace to grow through our circumstances, and the Holy Spirit walks with us through every situation.
At MMBB, God calls us to support you as you manage your financial life. We feel privileged to walk with you towards financial wellness. Have a wonderful summer.
Sincerely,
Louis P. Barbarin
