Spring is the time when flowers bloom and signs of growth sprout up around us throughout nature. It’s also the perfect season to reflect on your own personal and financial growth. With that in mind, this issue of Tomorrow offers guidance on being prepared for financial ups and downs and the unexpected.
In “Financial Steps to Take if You Lose Your Livelihood,” we share tips on managing your finances at the beginning of an employment transition. We also look back at our first-ever financial conference held this past March in “Highlights from the MMBB Re-think Re-Invest Financial Conference.”
This edition provides insight on stewardship and avoiding certain unwanted expenses. In “Online Giving: An Essential Financial Strategy for Churches,” we explore the do’s and don’ts of online donations. Have you heard of title or deed theft? We shed light on this lesser known form of identity theft in “Stealing Home: The Hidden Dangers of Deed Theft.”
Finally, two popular investment options are Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and mutual funds. Learn about the distinct features that set them apart in “Financial Fact: ETFs and Mutual Funds -- How Do They Compare?”
In closing, I leave you with this scripture. “Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” (Deuteronomy 32:2, NIV) This verse is part of a song or poem called the “Song of Moses,” in which Moses delivers a message from God to the Israelites. It emphasizes the aspiration that the people receive the Lord's teachings and words like refreshing rain and dew, which nourishes and brings growth just as rain does for plants. In that vein, I hope you continue to be refreshed and restored by God's instruction and wisdom this Spring, as you partake in the spiritual nourishment and growth that our faith brings.
In Christ,
Louis P. Barbarin
