Memorial Day weekend is a time when we honor those who have died serving our country in the military and remember their sacrifice and bravery. It also marks the unofficial start of summer. Some of us may plan vacations and attendance at summer conferences; however, at MMBB we never take a vacation from providing you with financial wellness resources.
With that in mind, we offer you articles covering topics from financial planning for the future to day-to-day personal finance and vacation safety to financial etiquette. “Do You Need a Trust?” explores trusts for the average middle-class person or a person with a modest income. With the proliferation of digital banking, “The Great Debate: Online Banks vs. Brick-and-Mortar Banks” sheds light on the pros and cons of digital banks and traditional banks.
As vacation season begins, we provide guidance on travel safety in the first of a two-part series, “Travel Scams and Safety.” We're also excited about the launch of our refreshed homepage and wanted to give you a sneak peek in "Get Ready for the New MMBB.org Homepage."
Finally, you may have noticed an increase in the number of businesses requesting tips in recent years or an increase in tipping rates. Our article, “Tipflation Got You Down?” provides insight on the rise of tipping rates and practices.
In parting, I leave you with a scripture from Hebrews 4:9-11 (ESV):"So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest.” This scripture reminds us of the importance of taking a rest from our day-to-day responsibilities and recharging our batteries so we can be our best selves. So many of our members minister to their congregations on Sunday, and leadership demands can make it difficult to find opportunities to rest on other days of the week. But it is important to take advantage of opportunities to reflect, relax and be rejuvenated. I hope that you find time to take a break and enjoy the warm weather this summer.
